A League of Our Own
The Club creates its own softball league. Managers: There is a limited time and space to sign up.
The Club’s dream of sponsoring more activities becomes reality in the summer of 2009, as the Club Athletic League is born. “The Club is always looking for new and better ways to serve our members,” says Club CEO John Hawkins. “And when Carlos Callejo contacted us, it was exactly what we were looking for.”
“I decided to contact the Club and see if they would sponsor our team,” says Carlos
Callejo, Storekeeper, General Services, with 13 years of City service, who plays for the Guzzlers team. “To my surprise, they were very eager and excited about sponsoring a whole softball league.”
That’s when John Hawkins and Club Director of Operations Robert Larios sprung into action, organizing the league, calling potential managers, working with Rec and Parks for times and places, and getting the whole thing off the ground. “Working with all the different managers and organizers is great,” says Robert Larios. “I’m not sure who is more excited – the Club, or the teams.”

The Club Softball season starts July 8th and ends with the championship games on October 7th. There will be 2 games played at selected locations throughout Los Angeles with the first game starting at 7:30pm and the second game starting at 9:00pm.
